Message from the Chair of the Organizing Committee:
The Vietnamese New Year “TẾT” Festival
of “Xuân Tình Thương“ 2008 –  The Year of the Rat.
A Community and Cultural Celebration for
Charity and Good Causes.

  With the support and sponsorship from various corporate and community organizations in the Greater Toronto Area, the Organizing Committee of the Vietnamese New Year “TET” Festival of XUAN TINH THUONG 2008 is organizing a celebration of the Lunar New Year 2008 – the year of the RAT. The Organizing Committee has entered into its 6th year in organizing this one-day event at the International Centre, Mississauga, Ontario. The goal is to preserve and promote cultural festivities in Canada. This special event showcases a wide range of professional and community performing artists, business and corporate displays, traditional and non-traditional activities, talents competitions, food fair, and much more.
 
  In the past years, this event has been sponsored by major corporations such as the Western Union, Clarica Financial Services, Honda Incorporation, Toyota Incorporation and Ontario Academy of Music, etc. Each year this one-day event attracts ten thousand Vietnamese and friends. Hundreds of volunteers contribute their countless time, skills and talents to make this event a huge success. The New Year “TET” Festival of Xuân Tình Thương 2008 will continue to aim at charity work and community development. Profits generated from the event will be donated for good causes.
 
  The Vietnamese New Year “TET” Festival of “XUAN TINH THUONG 2008” will be held at the International Centre, 6900 Airport Road in the city of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, on Saturday, January 19, 2008 from 1:00pm to 11:00 P.M. A public reception and an opening ceremony will kick off the event in the presence of dignitaries from the government, community organizations, corporate and community businesses, honourary individuals and volunteers. The dignitaries will be invited to deliver their New Year’s greetings to the Vietnamese community in the Greater Toronto Area and its surrounding vicinity. Traditional ceremony to welcome the New Year will also be conducted before thousands of audience and is followed by various performing arts throughout the day. Guests will have a chance to visit community and business booths, sample cultural food, participate in various games and talents competitions, and win some prizes. This is a perfect opportunity to meet and greet thousands of participants.

  The daylong cultural celebration of the “TET” Festival is a proud contribution of the Vietnamese community which has the sole objective to promote multiculturalism in Canada and to do some charity work.
